WoWSQL MCP is live in Cursor

Connect Cursor to WoWSQL managed Postgres over HTTPS MCP with OAuth — list projects, run SQL, and search docs.

Announcement

WoWSQL’s hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server is available for Cursor. You can connect your assistant to managed Postgres projects over HTTPS with OAuth — no long-lived API keys pasted into config for the default flow.

What you get

Once connected, Cursor can use WoWSQL tools to:

  • List your projects (list_projects)
  • Inspect tables (list_tables)
  • Run SQL (execute_sql)
  • Search WoWSQL docs (search_docs)
  • List storage buckets (list_storage_buckets) when storage tools are enabled

How it works

  1. Add the WoWSQL MCP URL to Cursor (Settings → Features → MCP, or edit .cursor/mcp.json).
  2. On first use, Cursor starts OAuth; you sign in and consent in the browser.
  3. Later requests send a bearer token to the WoWSQL API behind the MCP endpoint.
  4. Optional URL query parameters scope the project and which tools are registered.

Configuration

Project .cursor/mcp.json or global ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wowsql": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.wowsql.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Restart Cursor after saving, then complete OAuth when prompted.

Optional scoping

Append query parameters to the URL when you want a fixed project or safer defaults:

Parameter Meaning
project_ref Project UUID or slug
read_only=true Blocks mutating SQL in execute_sql
features Comma-separated tool groups, e.g. account,database,docs,storage

Example:

https://mcp.wowsql.com/mcp?project_ref=YOUR_PROJECT_SLUG&read_only=true&features=database,docs
