WoWSQL Overview

Getting Started with WoWSQL

WoWSQL is a Postgres-powered Backend-as-a-Service platform that gives you instant APIs, authentication, file storage, and realtime capabilities—all without managing servers.

What is WoWSQL?

WoWSQL transforms your Postgres database into a fully-featured backend in seconds. Create a table, get instant REST APIs. Enable auth, get user management. Upload files, get S3-compatible storage. Everything you need to build modern applications.

Why WoWSQL?

  • Instant APIs - Create tables, get REST endpoints automatically
  • Built-in Auth - Email and password, OAuth, 2FA, magic links, email/phone OTP and optional CAPTCHA (Cloudflare Turnstile)—all included
  • File Storage - S3-compatible storage with presigned URLs
  • Realtime - WebSocket subscriptions for live data updates
  • Postgres Power - Full SQL support with stored procedures, triggers, views
  • 11 official SDKs - TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Go, Java, Kotlin, C#, PHP, Ruby, Rust, Swift and Flutter/Dart
  • Dedicated compute - Pulse and Forge dedicated instances on the Pro and Scale plans, billed hourly

Quick Start

  1. Sign up at wowsql.com
  2. Create your project in the dashboard
  3. Copy your project URL and API key from the Connect menu on the project overview (or Settings → API)
  4. Start building with instant APIs!

Your First API Call

Once you create a table in your project, you can immediately query it:

curl -X POST https://api.wowsql.com/api/v1/db/tables/users/query \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_ACCESS_TOKEN" \
  -H "X-Project-Slug: your-project-slug" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "filters": [
      {"column": "status", "operator": "eq", "value": "active"}
    ],
    "limit": 10
  }'

Authentication: this is a control-plane endpoint on https://api.wowsql.com. Send a WoWSQL account access token (the JWT issued when you sign in to your WoWSQL account) as Authorization: Bearer .... Project API keys (wowsql_anon_... / wowsql_service_...) are rejected with 401 here; use them with the REST API on your project host instead.

Or query the same table through the auto-generated REST API (PostgREST) on your project host, as the SDKs do:

curl "https://your-project-slug.wowsqlconnect.com/rest/v1/users?status=eq.active&limit=10" \
  -H "apikey: YOUR_ANON_KEY"
